4 Sessions – starting at Є200

Month Long Courses

Our four-week courses offer an in-depth exploration of working with clay. Over the course, you'll learn a variety of techniques such as pinching, coiling, and slab building, each method allowing you to model your pieces in unique ways. In addition, you’ll be introduced  to different ways to add surface texture and designs.

In our classes we encourage you to experiment with glazing your own pieces.  Our studio provides a wide selection of glazes and finishing methods, including dipping, brushing, and layering techniques, giving you the freedom to explore various colors, finishes and designs.

By the end of the course, you'll have developed a deeper understanding of hand building and glazing, allowing you to create pieces that reflect your individual style and creativity.

Session 1

The first session serves as our introductory class to the studio space. We'll cover the safety guidelines and introduce you to all your tools and materials before beginning our pinching, coiling and slab building demonstrations. For the remainder of class you’ll incorporate these techniques into your pieces.

Session 2

We will continue work on refining our work from the previous session and begin constructing our slab built pieces. Throughout this session we will start discussing ways to various create surface texture and designs through patterns, carving and piercing.

Session 3

Is completely focused on making and completing the pieces you have been working on. This is our last hand building day before we let our pieces dry so they can make it through their initial “bisque” firing.

Session 4

Once your work has been bisque fired we will meet during our last session to focus on glazing your pieces. Our studio has a variety test tiles showing samples of various glaze finishes ranging from dipping, drawing to painting.

FAQ’s

  • For the classes I recommend wearing something you don’t mind getting dirty. We use a white stoneware clay that is washable, but for glaze days we will be using different pigment and paints to finish our pieces.

Aprons are optional but I have them available for those who’d like to use one.

  • After our last session your pieces will be loaded into the kiln during our next glaze fire. Once loaded, the kiln takes about 3 days to reach temperature and cool completely before it can be opened. Once your pieces are unloaded and ready, you will be notified via email.

You can schedule a time to pick up your work, or depending on your location i’m happy to drop it off directly when I am in that area.

*be sure to bring a box and some towels or something to wrap your work in. If I have packing material laying around I’m happy to provide it but this is not always the case.

  • In case you need to cancel your booking please do so one week prior to our first session.

Also please make sure to block all dates of the sessions as they are fixed. Missed classes cannot be reimbursed or repeated.

  • There are spaces available for 4 people. In the courses I want to ensure you have enough table space to work on multiple projects at once since we will be balancing different pieces in various stages throughout the course.

Smaller classes also allow for more individualized instruction.

  • 18+ for our courses. Throughout the year I always try to offer workshops for various age groups. If there is enough interest/demand for a particular topic/age group i’m always happy create a workshop or longer format class. Feel free to inquire with me if you have additional questions regarding this topic.

What to wear?

Clay is washable, but it’s best to wear clothes that are okay to get a little dirty. Especially on paint days (every friday.) It’s best to wear a short sleeve shirt since our hands will be near wet buckets. Students can bring an oversized shirt to wear over clothes or use an apron available in the studio.

Let’s plan something special –

We’re happy to host private events and special occasions like: birthdays (kids or adults), date nights, book club, team building, family clay days and other collaborations in our studio space.
