Session 1
The first session serves as our introductory class to the studio space, we’ll cover the safety guidelines and introduce you to all your tools and materials before beginning our pinching and coiling demonstrations. For the remainder of class you’ll incorporate these techniques into your pieces.
Session 2
In this session you will be introduced to the slab building technique. We will continue work on refining our work from the previous session and begin constructing our slab built pieces. Throughout this session we will start discussing ways to add surface texture and designs through patterns, carving and piercing.
Session 3
This is our last hand building day completely focused on making and finishing the pieces you have been working on throughout the course. Once completed we will set them out to dry so they can prepare for their initial firing where they become bisqueware in order to prepare for our final session.
Session 4
After two weeks, once your work has been bisque fired we will meet for our last session to focus on glazing your pieces. Our studio has a variety test tiles showing samples of various glaze finishes ranging from dipping, drawing to painting.
